With a CD release on the way and a kickass music video for there single, “Dry The Rain,” I decided to find out a little more about Chris Harms the front man of Gothic/electronic band called “Lord of The lost.” So here it goes ENJOY.

Interview by Catee Delaloye

You have been in a Glam band and played the guitar for Big Boy, tell me how does being the front man of  “Lord of The Lost,” differ from your other projects.  Musically, composing and performing wise.

Chris: I am still playing in this glam band, THE PLEASURES to be exact. LORD OF THE LOST is different from that but I am used to dance on many weddings. The good thing about it is, that I feel very safe with this, it feels like home, as it has been the kind of music I have already played as a teenager. So it’s nothing new to me, it’s basically me!

What made you decide to start/join lord of the Lost? It is musically and VISUALLY very different from what you  have previously done..

Chris: Life forced me to do it. It was just the time to turn myself inside out.

Who, when and how did the band form?

Chris: It was me that has founded this band. First it didn’t start off as a band, it’s been just me and the songs in my head. After a short while I felt the need to show it to the world which isn’t easy without a band. It was a decision of causality.

You guys just finished recording your very first music video, congratulations!

It is visually and musically very appealing, can you tell me how the energy was like on set?

Chris: It wasn’t as explosive as it looks like in the final video. This was hard work. I am a working type of guy, i like the spirit of hard work and concentration so I didn’t need the magic that some artists need to feel for something like that. I knew exactly what I wanted to do to make the video what it is. And I did.

I know that music videos involve 1000’s of takes, so what did you do to try to keep your energy throughout the shoot?

Chris: Working out, Red Bull, later Red Bull with vodka, finally only vodka…

Can you tell me a bit about the storyline of the video?

Chris: It’s about the downward spiral of love and pain, this vertigo of emotions. You see a girl that is trying to get rid of black paint that covers her whole body. The color symbolizes all this grief and powerlessness. Once she finally cleaned herself from all this color and sees herself clean and pure for the first time, all of the sudden the color comes back and the story ends where it has been started.

What was the biggest challenge in filming the music video for “Dry The Rain.”

Chris: I think it was the scene with the girl and the paint. You cannot get rid of this color in less than one hour of showering and we also had only one red dress for her. In the original take she colored herself with the black paint so we could reverse it in the postpro to get this effect the other way round. But once she was full of color, it was too late to go bakc and change anything. So we only had one chance to make it perfect.

Any funny stories that happened while filming?

Chris: I forgot Any’s skirt she wanted to wear in the band scene… She was very angry with me.

What are your band influences?

Chris: I don’t know.

Can you tell me a little bit about the recording of your debut album?

Chris: The funny thing is, that I am so involved now in the songwriting process for the second album tht I can barely remember things about the first one. All I know for now is that it was a fight in the end. I want the listener to feel what I felt, to know what I experienced, to comprehense why this song exists. If oyu follow an aim like that its hard to reach perfection.

Now, that you have officially recorded an album, shot a  music video and played your first couple of shows.

What have you enjoyed the most and least?

Chris: I enjo the most to watch how it’s growing from day to day and it kind of developes its own consciousness.

Some fun questions

Favorite drink?

Chris: Strawberry juice, Southern Comfort with Ginger Ale and a shot of lemon juice, and cold milk after each concert

Biggest obsession?

Chris: I’m a man, are you really asking me that?

Best trait?

Chris: Making a plan and realize it.

If you had superpower what would it be?

Chris: I’d like to be able to stop the time. Everything is possible when you’re able to do that.

Favorite city?

Chris: The city I live in. Hamburg, Germany. And Los Angeles.

If you found a million dollars would you keep it?

Chris: I would keep as much as I needed and give the rest to people that need it more than me.

What would you do if you met a real vampire?

Chris: Get immortal.

And finally what is next for “Lord Of The Lost.”?

Chris: We are shooting a second video to promote the album in early 2010… The first day of shooting is next monday. This is gonna be tough, we are shooting at night, in the river Elbe in Hamburg… And I will be in the water, the whole night… In October… I’m gonna be more lost than Lord.

Thanks Chris.

Chris: I wish you all the best for this new platform! Thank you!
